Must read books for kids

Must-Read Books For Kids

There are some books that you just know need to go on your reading list for kids at some point. I have passed my love of reading onto my kids, and have many favorites. I want them to enjoy those, as well as the ones I never knew I had missed out on until I started looking for all of the must-reads.

Must Read Books For Kids

At this age we have a lot of read aloud time, so these don’t have to be books they conquer all on their own. But once they can, they will want to read these over and over. Here is the reading list that I have made for my kids to enjoy now and in the coming years:

Wind in the Willows
James and the Giant Peach
Jungle Book
Treasure Island
The Velveteen Rabbit
Watership Down
The Secret Garden
Little Women
Little Men
Heidi
Mary Poppins
Nancy Drew (series)
The Adventures of Robin Hood
Pippi Longstocking
The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe (Narnia series)
Stuart Little
Charlotte’s Web
Winnie the Pooh
Where the Wild Things Are
A Wrinkle in Time
Magic Treehouse (series)
My Father’s Dragon
Little House on the Prarie (series)
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Ramona Quimby (series)
“Fudge” books (series)
Freckle Juice
Blubber
How to Eat Fried Worms
Judy Moody (series)
Amelia Bedilia (series)
Nate the Great

I know this reading list for kids will expand, but for now I am so excited to have my children read these books. There are many that I will read again, as they do, just so we are able to discuss and adore them together. What are some of your favorite books of all time?
