Are you ever up later than usual, and happen upon a movie you haven’t seen in a long time, leading you to stay up way too late? There are some movies that can be watched again and again, and unexpectedly seeing them on your screen is a truly pleasant surprise. These have us not wanting to turn off the television, even though we are well aware of what happens next. We will go to bed exhausted, but happy, with that all-too-rare feeling that all is right with the world. Or, wow, I forgot how f’ed up the world is! Are you thinking yet of what those films are that do that for you?
50 First Dates – Yes, this was the movie that inspired this post. I had never considered Adam Sandler my muse before. Who knew? Anything he’s in with Drew Barrymore I’ll watch more than once because they’re great together.
Wedding Singer? If you didn’t laugh at least once in that I may not ever send you a Christmas card.
Legends of the Fall – Just. Love. It. Not short on big actors, either, so you’ll probably find one of your favorites.
Sister Act, 1 or 2, or both – Until now only Jackpot knew this about me, but Sister Act 2 is one of my guilty pleasures. I have no idea why, other than how it combines the whole underdog thing, and the singing thing – yes, I love it! It also happens to contain one of my favorite songs, “Oh, Happy Day”. I love singing this, horribly of course, at the top of my lungs, feeling a higher power. Weird.
Predator – any of them. And although I’m not a huge fan of the Aliens movies, Alien vs. Predator is awesome, too. Jackpot got me into these years ago and I still let him feel good about “talking me into” watching them every once in a while. “Get to the choppa!”
Primal Fear, Fight Club, American History X – Edward Norton movies. That guy can act his ass off and that makes me think about what I’ve seen, like it’s for real real, long after I’ve turned off the TV. I love when I’m forced out of my mommy-brain state for a minute and have to think.
Kid Movies – All worth sitting through over and over because I get cuddles with my babies while we watch. Corny much?
I seriously could go on for days here. There are so many that I love, and others that I will never watch again, still upset I’ll never get that time back after watching it the first time. You know the ones I’m talking about. That’ll have to be for a later post.
I’d love to hear your favorites in the comments!
