Holidays!! Yay!! Maybe. Need some new ideas – something different, something simple, something “duh”, but you just hadn’t thought of it? Do you like to avoid crowds, embrace them, buy the most expensive gifts (whether the person needs/wants it or not), or the most unusual? This isn’t a huge list, but I wanted to hit on a little of something for everybody. Not everybody on your list. I am NOT your personal shopper, right? But, something for every type of gift giver. Hopefully, if nothing else, this will spark some ideas for you. Feel free to help us all out by adding more to the list in the comments!

You cannot go wrong here, for any occasion. Giving a gift with someone’s name, monogram, favorite quote, is usually not something that they have 20 of. The options for this are many, too. A few examples:
Clothing and accessories, home items, baby gear – buy your own and have embroidered, or pick from a variety of cool in-stock options! Click HERE for my favorite shop! Great for holiday decorations, too. 🙂
I have to add in when I find another awesome shop! Love the small business owners. 🙂 Check out their Facebook page HERE.
Jewelry, frames, boxes, and more – another area you can not underestimate how much people love to see their name in print. Someone on your list you never know what to get, so you go for a knickknack? Kick it up a notch with engraving! My go-to is HERE. Order online or find a location near you.
Memorials – seem a little too sad for the holidays? It’ll be good tears, I promise. If somebody on your list is missing a loved one, something HERE could be just what they need!
Vinyl’s Back, Baby!
This is perfect for the music lover on your list. Or the person who has always been obsessed with that one band or song. There’s nothing like listening to it on a good ole fashioned album! If you’re lucky, there is still a record store in your neighborhood that actually sells records, too. If not you can find plenty online. Click HERE to find some examples.
Don’t forget the player! If you’re introducing this cool idea to someone, they will probably need a turntable. If you have teenagers, give them an album and the player, and hope they become obsessed collecting. Much better to collect records than drugs. Just don’t let junior play them backwards. 😉
I’m sure you hadn’t thought of that, right? Well, if it’s your own child you are buying for, they may have given you a detailed list. Or you have no clue, or they’re too young to talk, or it’s for somebody else’s offspring. So, you can certainly check out some Top Toys lists like HERE and HERE. You can also hit up consignment shops, ebay, and Craigslist. We do really well each year starting off with these options. Some things are brand new in the box. If your kids have always had old mixed in with the new, like ours, they really couldn’t care as long as it works. (Please make sure it works!) I like to feel good about some of the gifts I give having some enrichment factor. So I always try to get something in the STEM category. Click HERE to find endless options for every age.
Weird idea, huh? Little kids LOVE these, but so do adults. Especially if it’s made from a picture of their favorite people (you,of course), best vacation, house they grew up in, family pet, or themselves (we all know that guy, right!) You can get these made at Walgreens, Shutterfly, etc. Click HERE to get an idea of pricing. You can get them in cute tins, too!
Yes, people still read. I think. Actually, I’m starting to question that. Anyway, this is another pleaser for all ages. Tricky part? Don’t get them a book you want them to read. It’s not about you. Think classic. Not necessarily classic books (although I’m loving that thought!), but what is a classic to them. An old favorite that you can find a first edition of, maybe. Or, if you know they just love mystery, and there is somebody new they may not know about, give it a try. For kids – many people think they only want toys, but all the kids I know have some type of book they love. Look for something different, too, that may be totally new to them, or their family if too young to read. This is where I like to ask around. You may be surprised to find authors of children’s books in your friends list. Here’s two I discovered:
You can also shop for books by age HERE.
This goes over well with most. But, it doesn’t have to be really expensive bling to be a hit. Especially for a younger crowd. Check out these really cool bracelets by Pure Vida . There’s also a great story behind them that you can read on their site. If you decide to buy, use code JACKIEMASON20 to get 20% off!
Great for kids. Go simple with drawing paper and crayons or washable markers (little ones can never have enough of these), or try finding some kits they may enjoy. In our house, Thing 1 just discovered origami. A book on a new craft with some supplies will definitely be something different. HERE are some ideas.
As a gift, sure, and I have a post about that, too. But, I just want to make sure I address the wants of your home’s other babies. You don’t want them to watch you all open gifts and have nothing for them, do you? Monsters! HERE‘s some cool stuff for them.
Yep, I may have just made that word up. I’m talking about the cookies, breads, and candies that you can make yourself. This is why everybody gains one thousand pounds over the holidays. But, they still like it. You can always make it a little fancier by putting it on a cool dish you find at a Home Goods or Tuesday Morning. Here’s my Banana Bread recipe, and these Pan Buckeyes are to die for. Literally. I’m pretty sure there have been wars fought for these. Blood has been shed. Totally worth it!
Now This Is Cool!
Most people know somebody (or 5 somebodies) that would love this ! Saw it and thought I’d add it to the list. 🙂
Lastly, ask someone what they really want. It might surprise you. A cousin posted on Facebook recently that she wanted an ironing board and iron for Christmas, but her husband wanted it on public record that she had actually made that request before he purchased the useful gift. I was reminded of a couple of years ago when we had a similar experience here. Jackpot and I never buy for each other anymore. It’s all about the kids. We decided that year to change that. I asked for, and received, a utility light installed above the pantry area in the basement. The heart wants what it wants.Click HERE for a few “useful” ideas. And don’t forget TOOLS and ELECTRONICS.
If you read note above, you will see that I am part of the Amazon Affiliates program. But. I really do live on Amazon. I very rarely shop dragging around 4 kids. I am a member of Amazon Prime, shop from my computer, and get it delivered to my door in 1 or 2 days. If you’re not a member, check it out HERE.
