Today I am “reviewing” a book written and illustrated by one of my readers. In her description she says: “Helga has trouble fitting in and making friends at school until she meets a new student that likes her for who she is and learns that it isn’t what’s on the outside that matters, but who you are on the inside. A feel good story about fitting in and having confidence in yourself.”
This book is recommended for boys and girls 7-11, perfect ages to identify with the awkwardness they can start to feel with who they are, or who they are becoming. It is sooooo wonderfully illustrated! My kids just fell in love with the pictures – they really captured their attention. I quite enjoyed them myself! This book is a great door opener, or re-opener, for a parent to approach many conversations – making friends, self-confidence, not judging others, even saving animals!
